Lisa is a teaching artist and nature-based educator with a passion for nurturing meaningful connections between children and the natural world. She strives to activate the artistry present in everyone, engage students in collaborative creation, and explore our relationship with—and responsibility to—Place. Lisa has experience working with children in both urban and rural outdoor settings, and specializes in early childhood education. With experience across a range of community organizations and formal classroom settings, she brings a joyful, grounded presence to her work, inviting young people into creative, nature-rooted exploration.

Spellbound Theatre, Brooklyn, NY 2016-Present

Lead teaching artist and ensemble member for community-based classes for parents and children playing together, and for in-school partnerships. Past residencies include: The Brooklyn Children's Museum's new art space, SPARK, and Brooklyn Heights Synagogue Preschool.

Brooklyn Forest School, Brooklyn, NY 2020-2o24

Lead teacher facilitating caregiver/child classes in Central Park and Prospect Park, NYC that promote Nature Connection based on a Waldorf-inspired approach.

Lead teaching artist for community-based classes specializing in comprehensive acting training programs for youth and adults. 

BBEDC Salmon Camp, Dillingham, AK Summer 2018

Created and taught a storytelling workshop with middle school students participating in Salmon Camp, a week-long camp for local students to learn about salmon biology and subsistence fishing. The workshop focused on connecting ecology to personal stories.

Lincoln Center Education's Fundamentals of Teaching Artistry Development Lab, New York, NY Summer 2017

Trained with master teaching artists, exploring the process of imaginative learning and practices in arts education and community arts. 

Palladium Players at Lee County High School, Leesburg, GA Summer 2017

Designed, created and taught a week-long workshop series focused on using Shakespeare and student'’ personal experiences to create an original, ensemble-based performance piece.

Led "Story Hour" celebrating the rich history of African American heritage, where students engaged in a story using music and art. 

American Conservatory Theater Education, San Francisco, CA August 2011 - May 2014

Assisted and trained under master teaching artists in ACT's Smart School Residency Program, where high school students attended mainstage and conservatory productions, learned about theatrical careers and created original work based on personal experiences.
